Our Story

We began as Zee Store, founded with a simple purpose: to make modern, wearable African fashion more accessible to the diaspora and anyone who appreciates its beauty. Over the years, what started as a store grew into something bigger: a community connected by culture, creativity, and self-expression.

As we grew, we realized our name needed to grow with us too.

Zee Store is now Zzya Studios (pronounced Zee-yah).

The new name marks our next chapter while staying connected to where we began. Zzya Studios represents a more intentional vision for the brand: creating contemporary African fashion that feels at home in everyday life while remaining rooted in the cultures and craftsmanship that inspire us.

Our pieces are thoughtfully handcrafted in Nigeria by talented artisans, celebrating African creativity through bold prints, modern silhouettes, and small-batch collections designed to feel distinctive.

Our name may have changed, but the heart of the brand hasn’t.

Meet the Founder

Hi! I’m Azzy, a proud Nigerian-Canadian and the founder of Zzya Studios, formerly Zee Store. I’m also a chronic pain and sickle cell warrior, dog mum to Boba, and someone who believes style has the power to tell stories, build confidence, and create connection.

No matter where life has taken me, African fashion has always been my connection to home. Wearing Ankara adds confidence to my step, colour to my day, and reminds me where I come from. Even on the harder days, putting on something bold and beautiful has a way of lifting my spirit.

Wherever I wore African prints, people would ask where they could find outfits like mine. That simple question became the inspiration for Zee Store.

I created Zee Store to make modern African fashion more accessible while supporting the talented artisans who bring these designs to life in Nigeria. Over the years, the brand grew, our community grew, and so did the vision behind it.

Today, that next chapter is Zzya Studios.

The name is new, but what brought us here remains the same: a love for African fashion, a commitment to craftsmanship, and a belief that culture belongs in our everyday lives, not only on special occasions.
